2024 - Black Butler
I finally finished my coat for Ciel right in time for the anticipated series reboot to drop! So excited to curl up on the couch and reward myself with nostalgia bait.
This piece is my design. It’s loosely inspired by Ciel’s burgundy suit featured early in Black Butler, a Faust-inspired manga and anime series. The story centers around a vicious twelve-year-old and orphan, Earl Ciel Phantomhive. He strikes a deadly bargain with a demon, who agrees to masquerade as his Butler and assist him in his epic conquest for revenge.
I based the coat heavily on Victorian fashions and sourced the rest of the costume second-hand. My favorite piece I found while sourcing is the Alice and the Pirates Ouji Lolita blouse I’m wearing. The black and navy stripes and ruffle detailing are to die for!
